More than 90 job seekers joined us for our recent Family Promise Job Fair—and we already know of at least seven attendees who walked away with more than connections. They walked away with jobs.
One mother arrived early for the Job Fair. She had been diligently attending our Joptimize group sessions and putting in the work to prepare for employment, but when she arrived, she realized something immediately: employers were conducting interviews, and many of the other job seekers had come dressed professionally. So she went home…. but not because she was giving up…. she quickly changed into a sharp business suit and came right back ready to make an impression. She completed an initial screening during the event—and just a few days later, she was hired.
Her story was one of several employment successes coming out of the event. More than 90 job seekers attended, and we have already confirmed seven participants who obtained employment. One attendee was hired by Terrible’s almost immediately, another is now working for a local sign company, and three others secured warehouse positions.

Two Families. Two Vehicles. One Incredible Day.
Two Family Promise of Las Vegas families received refurbished vehicles through the NABC Recycled Rides® program! One family received a 2019 Ford F-150, donated by Allstate and repaired by Crash Champions. Another family received a 2018 Subaru Forester, donated by Nationwide and repaired by The Auto Group. Reliable transportation can be life-changing for a family. It can mean getting to work consistently, taking children to school or childcare, making medical appointments, and accessing the opportunities that lead to greater stability and independence.
30 Years and Just Getting Started!
We officially launched our 30th anniversary year with an unforgettable Family Fun Festival, bringing together 620 attendees, 108 volunteers, 26 community partners, 55 activity stations, two stages of entertainment, and families from across Southern Nevada. It was a joyful reminder that Family Promise has always been about more than one organization—it is about a community coming together around families.
The celebration was made possible through an incredible outpouring of support. Eleven event sponsors contributed to more than $27,000 in donations and sponsorships, while approximately 212 donors and contributors provided more than $32,000 in in-kind support. We are especially grateful to Eagle One Construction, Credit One Bank, Community Lutheran, New Song Lutheran, Grand Canyon Development Partners, Red Panda Systems, OneSeven Agency; The Athletics; Health Plan of Nevada, LV Restoration & Plumbing, and Findlay Toyota.
The Family Fun Festival was only the beginning. Throughout our 30th anniversary year, we will continue celebrating the people, partnerships, families, and milestones that have shaped Family Promise since 1996—while also looking ahead to what the next 30 years can become. There are many more stories to tell, people to thank, and opportunities ahead to help families find their way home.
30th Anniversary Open the Door Challenge
When families successfully graduate from Family Promise of Las Vegas, they get to choose a keychain with a hand written message that many of you created. The mom pictured above chose one that reads “To New Beginnings.” After overcoming homelessness, she and her children successfully transitioned into their own apartment and graduated from our program. For her family, those keys represent so much more than a new home. They represent stability, independence, and the opportunity to a new beginning.
This Giving Tuesday, YOU can be the key that opens the door for another family! As we celebrate 30 years of serving families in Southern Nevada, we’re launching our 30th Anniversary Open the Door Challenge, with a goal of raising $50,000 to support 150 families—approximately 460 parents and children. Your generosity helps families overcome barriers to housing, employment, childcare, transportation, legal barriers, and other basic needs, creating opportunities for more families to experience their own new beginnings and transition into sustainable housing.
Last Giving Tuesday, 33 generous supporters helped us raise $24,595. This year, we want to serve even more families! Our goal is to have 50 supporters raise $50,000!
Thanks to several incredibly generous donors, we’ve already secured $25,000 in matching gifts! That means every donation will be DOUBLED, and matched up to $25,000. Your $100 becomes $200. Your $500 becomes $1,000. Together, we can help more families unlock a future filled with possibilities.
